Prompt: Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

I would say that my mind is like a lens. My mind allows me to focus in on the things that are most important to me, without worrying about other things. I focus more on following the Lord than anything else. In this way my mind is just like a lens, I don't focus on things that are only going to hurt me. Summary: Today in class, we completed three common lits. It took a bit but wasn't too difficult. Reflection: I learned how to better analyze theme. Along with that, I also learned how to better apply my own life connections towards other stories and texts.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

I would love to go fly fishing in Alaska. Alaska is such a beautiful place with so many amazing, beautiful fish. I love fishing and mountains so Alaska would be an amazing trip. Although I have never been fly fishing, I am going this fall to my neighbor's river house in North Carolina and I can't wait.  Summary: Today in class we took the vocabulary lesson 1 quiz. All of the answers were a and it was very easy. Reflection: I learned that when you see a pattern, stick with it. During today's quiz I saw a pattern where all the answers were a, so I stuck with it and it went well for me.

Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand.

Something I will never fully understand is the grace of God. Despite our disobedience he continues to love us and care for us. He loved and cared for us so much that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to endure hours of pain and die for us on the cross while we were still sinners. God's love is so beautiful and true, unlike any other love. His grace is amazing and unfathomable towards us all. Summary: Today in class we presented our origin myths posters. Everyone did well and had good presentations. Reflection: I learned about other people's creativity and how different people made their own origin myths. It's amazing how everyone has a different imagination.

Prompt: Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Something that I wish I had more of is patience. Often times I get impatient with certain things. Over time my patience has grown but it is still not at the level that I want it to be. The reason for my growth in patience is the Lord Jesus. Anytime I'm being impatient I remember that the Lord is working at his place, not mine. I always remind myself that the Lord is always working, even if it takes a while, his will is better than mine. Summary: Today in class we worked on finishing our origin myths as well as our origin myths posters. It was a great, easy day. Reflection: Today I reflected on how to grow my patience. I also doubled checked my origin myth and poster, which helped me better analyze and fix issues in my writing and work.

Prompt: What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

The most creative thing I have made is a spear that I carved out of a stick. Throughout my childhood, my friends and I would make different objects out of sticks. I often carved spears and smaller sticks to make them similar to throwing knives. Still my spears that I carved stand out to be the most creative thing I've ever made. They were always functional, durable and vert fun to play around with. Summary: Today in class we finished up our origin myths and created a visual poster to represent our origin myths. These posters included a theme and summary of our origin myths along with visual elements to describe them and the characters in the origin myth. Reflection: I thought class was very fun today. I learned how to better use my creativity to turn words into visual drawings and representations.

Prompt: Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

In my life, I often look towards Jesus for answers in life. However, I still have a few questions that pop into my head when I see this prompt. I often wonder why bad things happen to good people, it's a question no one knows the answer to and leaves me wondering. I also have the question, where is AI going to take us. Will it eventually harm humanity or will it serve for a good purpose? Summary: Today in class we created our own origin myth. We took time to plan out our story and begin writing. Reflection: I learned how to take my imagination and create an origin myth for the first time. I thought it was very fun to take my imagination and write an origin myth.

Describe a time you felt completely lost.

A time that I felt completely lost was this weekend, on Saturday. This past Saturday I went fishing at my local lake. I had high hopes as I tied on a black and blue swim jig. An hour went by and I still hadn't caught anything so I decided to change to a spinner bait. Still, I caught nothing. I went home lost an confused about what I could've done different, wondering why the fish weren't biting. Summary: Today in class we all presented our presentations about "The Jealous Father." It was a fun yet simple day in class. Reflection: I learned even more about the moral of the story from the presentations that I saw. Everyone did great and had some good information.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Over the rest of the course, I anticipate how to better my writing skills, learning how to depict certain details in my writing. I also anticipate the challenge of staying consistent throughout the course, meaning getting my blogs done everyday and completing various assignments on time. Summary: Today in class we took a quiz on an origin myth. The quiz was 14 multiple choice questions and I got an 86 on the quiz. Reflection: I am happy with my score on the quiz. I am continuing to learn more about origin myths which I think is very interesting.

Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

A real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship that I've experienced is when a friend of mine got a toy that I wanted, but didn't get. I was 6 years old at the time, I had wanted this dinosaur toy for weeks. That day I went to my friends birthday party and he ended up getting the same toy that I wanted for his birthday. I was jealous and sad, however, the next day my mom and I went to the store. I was hoping to get the toy but my mom wouldn't let me, I ended up throwing a fit and I got some other toys taken away by my mom. Summary: Today in class we read the story, "The Jealous Father." After reading the story we got into groups and made a PowerPoint that analyzed certain information, themes, and morals from the story. Reflection: I learned more about how jealousy really does negatively affect relationships. I also learned how dangerous and blinding jealousy can be.

Prompt: Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

A meaningful place in my life is Big Stone Gap, Virginia. This place is a very small town in the Appalachain mountains. My grandparents from both my Mom and Dad's side live there and it is such a beautiful place. I spent much of my childhood there and enjoy visiting the beautiful mountains and the amazing weather. My favorite time to visit is during the fall when all of the trees on the mountains light up red and orange. Summary: Today in class we read "Navajo Creation" and discussed the story together. Reflection: I learned about what makes up an origin myth and how they are different from other stories.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt Response:  There have been many times that I've felt connected to nature. Growing up, me and my friends would always go around the neighbourhood exploring the beautiful nature of this world. One of the most remarkable moments of those times was when my friend, Jack and I camped out in his back yard after a long day of exploring the bamboo forest that was right behind his house. In order to get to the bamboo forest you had to cross the train tracks, then cross the creek by balancing on a fallen tree.  Summary: Today we learned about Native American literature and its many themes. Reflection: I learned about the many differences between myths, religion and an urban legend.
